The happy few who had the opportunity to watch Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive at Cannes were quite stunned by the film. The Danish director was hand-picked by Ryan Gosling who plays the lead role in the film. Based on the novel from James Sallis, Drive is set in LA in the 80s and focuses on the story of a Hollywood stunt performer who moonlights as a wheelman and discovers that a contract has been put on him after a heist gone wrong.
The film is in competition at Cannes and might grab the Jury’s attention, especially with De Niro as a true film noir enthusiast.
